Artist's Profile I have had the pleasure and privilege to live most of my life in the California Sierra Nevada foothills. Early spring releases a flush of color on the hillsides. Golden yellows, bright whites, dark purples, and neon pinks. The inspiration is unavoidable. Many of my paintings are inspired by nature's bouquets, both wild and the garden varieties. I am often asked why I mostly paint florals. The answer is actually complex. I do love flowers- their colors, textures and shapes are unlimited. And I also have a degree in landscape horticulture. But the main reason is to feed the Spirit of the Soul. Flowers often play a vital role in the health of a multitude of emotions. They are given to the sick and the down-hearted or saved for very special events and to loved ones. Personally, I live in a world of pain. To help focus away from that pain, I paint flowers. The process is a way to ease my mind, body and soul, and in turn, a hope to help others. In a sense, I give the gift of flowers in my paintings and drawings as everlasting bouquets to the world. Through the years I have been learning and absorbing styles and techniques of many mediums including colour pencil, acrylics, watercolors, digitals and mixed media. My style bounces from the correctness of botanicals to the expressions of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco eras to the surreal. I am compelled to create, to express my inner feelings in a visual outlet. When I put hand to pencil or brush and watch the process that follows, it becomes an endless dance in a magical world. I become part of each piece. Each shape of a petal or leaf is followed to fruition as if tracing the actual flower with my fingertips. Each gallery is full of inspiring art pieces. Come
into my world and relax. |
